I created this beautiful burger for my entry in the #blendedburgerproject and named it The MoJo Burger.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz of fresh-ground brisket
  • 3 oz baby bella mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper
  • 2 baby bell mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large slice of fontina cheese
  • 1/4 cup white onion, sliced
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 beefsteak tomato slices
  • 2 large green romaine leaves
  • 1 tsp honey dijon
  • 1 kaiser rolls

(Listed ingredients make one burger)

Directions:

Put a stir fry pan on medium heat. Add 2 tbsp butter and onions. Let the onions cook on low for 10 – 15 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally. Add sugar to the onions, and cook for another 5 – 10 minutes. Remove the onions from the pan and set aside. Add 1 tbsp of butter to the pan and saute the sliced baby bella mushrooms for 3 – 4 minutes and set aside. Next, put the cast iron pan on the stove and set the heat to high. Add 2 tbsp of butter. Mix the ground brisket, chopped mushrooms, garlic powder, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper in a small bowl until fully incorporated. Form into a large patty and cook on a cast iron pan for 3 minutes. Flip the burger, lay the fontina cheese on top, cover with a lid and cook for another 3 – 4 minutes. Build your burger – start with the bottom bun and spread the honey dijon. Lay down the lettuce, tomatoes, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, blended burger patty, and add a little more honey dijon spread to the top bun. Enjoy!
