If you haven’t heard, Forthright had an unfortunate kitchen fire last month and their space has been closed. However, they’re hosting a fantastic brunch every Sunday at Trinity Hall at 311 E 5th Street! Plus their food truck is open and operational during the week at San Jacinto @ Brazos St. from 8am-2pm. In the mean time… you gotta get in on their amazing brunch menu.

Pictured are their pumpkin muffins, zucchini bread, cinnamon rolls, and peanut butter cookies. I mean, does it get any better than perfect morning breads?!

Oh, brunch feast of my dreams.

Pictured are their benedict trio (that’s right – if you can’t choose between the smoked salmon, fried chicken and pork belly, you can get one of each). The shrimp n grits are a favourite of mine – the grits are so creamy, the shrimp plump, and the sauce spicy and flavorful! The croque madame is a go-to for me. The sourdough bread is crunchy but soft, and the cheese and ham melt together in perfect harmony. I really love the side salad too because balance.

The mushroom and avocado toasts are great options for vegetarians (and it can be made vegan, too!) The red velvet waffles are new for the holiday season and are a great sweet option.

Can’t forget about brunch cocktails! They have a lot to choose from including an iced egg nog (it comes in chocolate, too!) and a loaded bloody mary with celery, cucumber, jalapeno, lemon, olives and chili salt. I went with a delicious Dublin iced coffee made with whiskey, Irish cream, cold brew, simple syrup and Chantilly cream. Dreeeeaamy.

Mmmmmmm mushroom toast… and eggs.. and more mushrooms!

Mmmmm shrimp n grits. Look at those colours!

And what’s better than a fabulous loaded cheeseburger cooked juuuust right?! Also, those fries. Golden and delicious.

You gotta go with friends who will make you laugh and share in the food frenzy with you. I’m so thankful for these gals!

As a reminder, Forthright is serving brunch every Sunday at Trinity Hall at 311 E 5th Street and their food truck is open and operational during the week at San Jacinto @ Brazos St. from 8am-2pm. They hope to have their location back up and running in January – stay tuned for updates!
