My Guide to Seattle

I’ve been to Seattle twice now (Christmas 2016 and August 2019) and I have a few fun things to share about the big beautiful city!

Chateau St. Michelle

Joel and I took a fascinating wine making class called “Blend” where we learned all about a few major red wines in Washington and how to blend them! We got to taste, make our own blends, and even bottle and take them home! Joel went with a very heavy malbec (80%), 10% merlot and 5% cabernet.

Little Brother

This quaint cafe in Kirkland is absolutely beautiful and delicious! They’re known for their house made country bread and healthy, fresh food. I fell in love with this spot! Their peach, tomato and goat cheese panzanella salad was amazing, as well as their breakfast bowl and house made ricotta and jam on toast.

Conversation

This brunch was soooo tasty and spent with my in laws and husband, so it was extra special! I loved the crawfish, shrimp and grits, their house made pop tarte, and thick cut maple bacon. And the burger, and chicken sausage… and basically everything on the brunch menu was FANTASTIC. This beautiful spot is right by the waterfront (just two blocks from Pike Place).

Central Smoke

The weather was absolutely dreamy so we sat outside and feasted on incredible upscale bbq… it might have been my favourite meal I had in Seattle! We had soooo many menu items, including the 5 cheese mac, chicken fried rice, hush puppies, shaved cauliflower salad, smoked ribs, brisket, coleslaw, corn bread, street corn, and banana pudding. There was 4 of us and we couldn’t finish it all but man was it GOOD! They have a great happy hour with discounted food and drinks. I loved the grapefruit basil blue fizz drink made with pike & clark gin, grapefruit, basil, blue curacao, sugar, citrate, house carbonated and served in a collins glass with fresh basil.

Monsoon

A fabulous little Vietnamese spot with authentic food and drool-worthy dishes! I mean look at that dripping yolk… the spicy and crispy tofu was my fave, but the combo vermicelli bowl and grilled chicken salad were absolutely delicious!! They get really busy at lunch though so plan accordingly!!

La Conner

This cute little seaside town has tons of shops and restaurants, but it’s just great to go on a stroll. The salt in the air, the breeze in the wind, and a place called The Ice Cream Tower. I haven’t had an ice cream cone ALL YEAR so yeah I needed this. Espresso almond fudge. YUM.

Aunt Linda’s Farm in Marysville – Mountain View Farm

Joel’s aunt and her husband have this gorgeous huge farm (they’ve had it for decades) and they grow everything from vibrant flowers to squash, corn, grapes, tomatoes, and more!  They aren’t anywhere on social media so if you want to find out more, you’ll just have to give them a visit! You can find them at 5303 110th PLNE Marysville, WA 98271.

Cristiano’s

This local pizza and pasta restaurant was just DELICIOUS. Look at all that cheese on my pesto chicken za! My personal pizza plus that big salad was only $13. Such a great deal and fantastic eats.

Anthony’s

There are several locations, but we went to the Everett one (It’s Joel’s Grandma’s favourite – she’s there at least once a week!) And man did the food live up to the hype! Fresh, local, seasonal, and tasty. I had the cajun redfin with basmati rice pilaf and perfectly crisp green beans (plus they bring out a big basket of sourdough with thyme-butter so you know I had that) and then we shared cheesecake with seasonal peaches and peach ice cream – all made in house!

Safeco Field

There’s a big beautiful baseball field that has to be seen on a beautiful summer day in Seattle. What’s better than a cold brewskie on a sunny, 75 degree weather day?!

Honest Biscuits

I loved this spot so much in 2016 that we went back our second time! I ordered the egg, sausage, and Tillamook cheese biscuit sandwich BOTH times and it was INSANELY delicious!

Pike Place Market

This huge partially open air-market is awesome and full of amazing sights and smells!

In December 2016, Joel and I took the fairy to Bainbridge (I have never been on a boat before so it was wicked cool to me) but by the time we got to Bainbridge it was really rainy and we didn’t feel like walking anywhere, so back we went to Seattle. But the boat was fun!ee

Ivar’s Acres of Clams

Go during happy hour and grab a seat in their large bar to get some great deals! The fish and chips are fresh and not greasy at all. Their house made tartar sauce is incredible! Their clam chowder was a little too heavy for me but the few bites I had were tasty. And then the blackened salmon… it was so juicy, flaky, perfectly seasoned, and perfect alongside a caesar salad!
