I was so ding dang impressed by the folks at Austin Eats Food Tour and I’m so excited to share my experience with all of you! I have to mention that I’ve lived in Austin for almost a decade and I hadn’t been to 3 of the 4 stops! This tour isn’t just for tourists – it was made for locals too.

I went on their ~new~ brunch luxe tour which is a little bit upscale and whole lot of fun. We began our tour on a beautiful fall morning at Better Half and had delicious brekkie sandwiches with eggs, cheese, maple bacon, hashbrowns, arugula, spicy aoili on an English muffin. Pair this with an iced chai latte and you are set.

Our next stop was at Odd Duck where we had all. of. the. things. First up are these gorgeous savory pork pastries that are unbelievably good (also great to eat while drinking brunch cocktails). We also had buttery chocolate croissants that were just incredible!

These are not your average diner pancakes – they are made with masa and topped with grilled cinnamon apples, almonds and a goat cheese maple dressing. They’re so creative (and really really really good).

These veggies and egg skillets were not only adorable but full of great flavor! I usually am not a big fan of okra (I blame my childhood, being forced to eat bhindi sabji) but this dish was so good, I kept going back for more!

Can’t forget the brunch cocktails! They served us these beautiful prickly pear margs that were just the right amount of sweet and tart. And that pink is so pretty!!

This spread tho.

Our third stop was at Old Thousand, and they served us with several delicious dishes from their dim sum brunch menu. I think the Lo Bak Go (fried root vegetable squares) was my fave! Also, aren’t those carrot ribbons dreamy?

Beautiful chicken shumai. Yes please.

These smoked trout rangoons were a delicious twist on the usual crab ones. That chilli dipping sauce was great, too! I didn’t snap a pic of the hot chicken chili wontons we had – they were just as delicious!

Old Thousand has some of the prettiest decor in town! That wallpaper is a dream. And yes, we’re having more mimosas.

Last but deeeefinitely not least was our stop at Fixe.

These biscuits could use their own post because they’re that powerful. The folks at Fixe have perfected the buttery and flaky art of biscuit making. Add some clotted cream and jam for the best bite of your life.

As if we weren’t full from feasting all morning, they bring out their fried chicken sandwich with sweet tea pickles, chicken mayo, sunchoke and benne roll and salt n’ pepper fries. They’ve been working on new hot sauce recipes and served a fiery one that I could probably put on everything. Yuummmmo!

This is how they serve iced tea – freshly brewed at your table! They really go the extra mile in making the dining experience as luxurious as possible. They started serving brunch a few months ago and I am absolutely here for it.

I seriously loved every minute of our tour, including being driven around in a fancy van and listening to our eccentric and knowledgeable tour guide Eric. I recommend their tours for locals, tourists, your family, your small group, your co-workers, everyone and anyone you can think of! It’s carefully curated and hella fun. Go and thank me later!
