Get your fix of all things European at newly opened restaurant, Brama! The word “brama” means “gate” in several different languages. It’s a fitting name for this spot since there are so many unique Eastern European items on the menu.

We started out with a beet salad that was so delicious. Y’all know I love my beets and these were fresh, sliced thin and paired with goat cheese and a light yogurt sauce plus topped with fresh microgreens and candied nuts. Yuuummm!

Next we had classic Russian pierogis – mine were stuffed with cheese, potato and mushrooms and topped with caramelized onions and Shruthi ordered their classic potato pierogis with a light beet horseradish topping. These were so comforting and delicious!

Next up we had rolled eggplants with a walnut cream sauce and topped with pomegrantes and baby dill. I had their buckwheat bowl with mushrooms, bacon and a poached egg on top. I also tried their pork cherry smoked kielbasa with pan-fried sauerkraut. I really liked how healthy these dishes were and that they were still warm, tasty and full of flavor.

Last but definitely not least were cherry crepes with whipped cream! I love luxardo cherries and it went well with the simple but tasty crepes. It was a perfect way to end the meal.

Brama is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm and Friday – Saturday from 11am – 3pm and 5pm – 9pm. They’re located at 3301 Steck Ave, Ste 106, Austin, TX 78757 right across from the Honda dealership. PS they’re offering some fabulous NYE dinner specials too! I highly recommend them for a new cultural dining experience.
