I’m a huge meat and cheese eater so when I went to try Citizen Eatery, a vegetarian and vegan restaurant, I was a little skeptic but open minded. I’m now a HUGE fan of this place and want everyone to try it! They have a huge menu with tons of breakfast options, sandwiches, hot plates, and house made alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The space is airy, clean, modern yet welcoming. There are lots of sweet little corners like where Shruthi and I sat – it was the perfect spot for a lunch date!

The Citizen scramble comes with two eggs with mushrooms, potatoes, caramelized onions, wilted kale, cheddar cheese and wheat toast or make it vegan with tofu scramble. This is the type of meal I could eat every day and would never bore me. I didn’t even need condiments because it was so tasty!

The grilled romaine salad comes with flame-grilled romaine, roasted red peppers, organic white cheddar or vegan cheese and herb vinaigrette. A fun twist on your typical salad.

The Assam burger comes with Indian curry spices, rice, chickpeas, potato, tomato, vegan aioli and choice of side – we got yuca fries. I would come back JUST for this! The spices in the burger were perfect – it was hard to share.

This was a daily special – sautéed brussels sprouts, caramelized onions, sliced almonds tossed in a light sweet & salty sauce + sriracha aioli. There’s not much else to say except that they were PERFECT!

The nachos come with your choice of sweet potato or tortilla chips covered with vegan chorizo, vegan queso, pico de gallo, guacamole & fresh cilantro. I was super hesitant about this but it was absolutely amazing. I’m now convinced that vegan cheese and meat can be delicious because I loooved it.
