You’re going to find my in-depth reviews about places I’ve traveled to, kitchen adventures (and maybe mishaps) , restaurants I’ve visited far and wide (looking at you, Dublin) and tons more behind the scenes of what happens at The Monique Story!

Comfort and flavor and warmth and spice. This curry is everything I want in the winter. And it’s vegetarian! The paneer acts as soft pillowy transmitters for the silky creamy curry that is the just right amount of acidic from canned peeled tomatoes. It’s a labor of love, but oh it is worth it. Adjust […]

Burgers, tostadas, sashimi, oh my! I ate a lot of REALLY great food in Austin this past year! A round of applause to all of the the incredible minds that have created marvelous dishes that truly made my eyes roll (in the best way). From thick, juicy burgers to fresh, sustainable sashimi, I truly was […]

It’s baked ziti but on the stovetop because sometimes you don’t want to turn on the oven and wait an hour!!! Whose with me??? So I guess I could call it stovetop ziti but that sounds like the stuffing from a box and no offense but this is NOT THAT. It is far from that. […]
This post has been a long time coming, but the irony is that I don’t truly have time (or make time) to sit and write the way I used to. Just one of the million ways motherhood has changed who I am and what I do. If I can be prepping food for the family, cleaning something (because with a toddler and a large dog, there’s always cleaning to be done) or something that is more productive and helpful for my family, that is the priority over most things. But today, I thought I would sit in my cozy bed and write to you, my friends and my audience that have been by my side for years and years. Or if you are stumbling upon this and my page for the first time, then welcome!

This is a really really really delicious meal that I may or may not be making every week for the rest of 2022. Like I really did outdo myself. Meet, my favourite meal I’ve made in quite awhile: roasted salmon teriyaki and veggies with sticky rice… Oh how a little bit of prep makes all […]

The perfect summer recipe: when it’s too hot and you don’t want to really cook, make this poké bowl! Poké is my favourite thing to eat in the summer (well besides ice ream) and this recipe makes it so easy! The most important thing about this poké recipe is getting high quality fish. I recommend […]

If you love shrimp, you’re going to LOVE this recipe. It is healthy, fast, delicious, and sooooo easy! Plus it’s gluten, dairy and soy free (and loaded with high protein shrimp). It’s the perfect recipe to make on a busy weekday night for yourself or for a family. The chewy sweet potato noodles soak up […]
These spicy, tangy, Thai inspired lemongrass chili chicken wings are gluten/dairy/soy free and are a nice change from the usual buffalo or bbq wings you might order – and these are made with *really good* ingredients. What you’ll need: -3 lbs chicken wings -1 stalk of lemongrass, thinly sliced -3 tbsp of chili oil -2 […]

I don’t usually opt for vegan meals but sometimes you just want veggies! Curries are a great way to sneak in those greens you’ve been avoiding and the spice can be as spicy or mild as you want. Obviously the longer you can simmer your curry the better it will be, but the quality of […]

Waffles + chardonnay are the new hottest pair in town 🧇 I’ve created the perfect brunch recipe to pair with RedThumb Natural Wine’s crisp, light and unoaked chardonnay. A few notes about this lovely natural chardonnay – it has notes of green apple, stone fruit and a hint of butterscotch mingled with a light creaminess. […]

The baby is here, we are all (finally) home from the hospital, and reality sets in… Get ready for some real, raw, honest truth about the immediate postpartum/fourth trimester season. The sleep deprivation. The endless breastfeeding. The blood curdling screaming and crying. Aaaand the hormone rollercoaster. Nothing prepared me for what the immediate weeks and […]
